In the nineteen sixties and early nineteen seventies, I was a heroin addict with no hope and no future. I was convinced I would be an addict, in and out of prison, for the rest of my life. However, in 1972 I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, and two years later Jesus delivered me from my addiction. For the next ten years, I was discipled in a local church. In 1984 Jesus launched I into a street ministry with heroin addicts in Vancouver, B.C., which in 1985 developed into a prison ministry and in 1997 into a drug and alcohol recovery house ministry.

I was born and raised in Calgary AB. In 1972, I came to Vancouver and worked as a Liscensed Pratical Nurse. In 1973, Ernie and I were married, and have raised two daughters. God called Ernie back to the streets of Vancouver to share with those on the street his testimony, "What God did for me, He can do for you!" I have supported him and continue to support him in all areas of his ministry. God is working in the hearts of those who seek His help.

I grew up in a Christian home, with a secret. My father was an alcoholic. I left home at seventeen, and my father went in recovery when I was eighteen. Since then my father has become a pastor and I am very proud of him. I know that the only way he overcame this was to relinquish everything to Christ. I truly believe in what Set Free is doing and wanted to be a part in the ministry as well.

I first came into recovery in June of 1999, I tried staying clean by attending meetings and relying on my own strength. I failed. So in Oct. 2000, I finally asked God to help me as I was helpless. I went to a treatment center, but I knew I needed inner healing that they couldn't give me, so I came to the Samaritan Inn where I could seek out the Lord. I found as long as I would persever, Jesus would do the rest and He has! This is the most peaceful time of my life and I have no desire to go back to drugs. Praise the Lord! He's done what I coudn't do and I always remember that I can do all things through Christ who strenghtens me. Phil 4:13
